Beauty In The Soul Is Born From Scars In The Heart
By Nikhil Mohanty

We live in a pretentious environment. Everyone is trying to be something they are not. People are living to appease others. All performative action. Like everyone is putting on a show. Think about that for a second deeply. Think about moments in life where you decided to take action based on what a person thought of you.
The main issue is unconscious misalignment. At work, we chase quarterly goals assigned by our companies, often losing sight of our personal ambitions. Our relationships conform to society's ideas of what’s ‘perfect’ without considering what truly matters to us. Many follow religious traditions simply because they’re traditional, rarely stopping to ask if these practices actually resonate. We pursue college degrees, assuming they’ll guarantee success, even though the workforce is undergoing massive changes due to the innovation of technology, so many jobs may not even exist in 10 years. There is now a machine that agrees with you. Not sometimes. By design. It was trained on human approval, and humans approve of being told they are right. So every idea goes in and comes back out polished, confirmed, and a little more certain than it went in. Do that a few thousand times and something quiet happens. The habit of asking "and then what?" dies. Second level thinking, the part of you that looks past the answer to what the answer causes, does not get argued out of you. It just stops getting used. Egos grow. Doubt shrinks. And a whole population walks around more confident than it has ever been, about ideas nobody ever pushed on.
